Important the this patch will work for sites with the "Comodo EV SSL Certificate".

What is EV Enhancer™:

The Comodo EV SSL and EV SGC SSL Certificates both come with EV Enhancer™, EV Enhancer™ is a script technology that enables Internet Explorer 7 on Windows™ XP client systems to display the green address bar, organization name and other EV interface conventions.

How does it work:

EV Enhancer™ works by prompting existing root update functionality in Windows Internet Explorer on visiting client systems, thus enabling the client to recognize the SSL Certificate's EV status.

Note: Without a root update, no Windows XP client will ever see the green bar on your Web site

Once a client system has a specific EV SSL root installed that client will experience the "green bar" behavior whenever connecting to a valid EV SSL Certificate on that same root.
EV Enhancer™ script provides a small invisible image that needs to be placed on every web page, loading the web page will force the enhancer script into action. The script fetches the EV SSL root certificate.

Why is this necessary?
For technical reasons Microsoft can not ship the new EV SSL root. The EV Enhancer™ script provides a way that the root can be installed into Internet Explorer 7.
